This arch was also erected by Napoleon I. Its construction started in 1806, but it was only finished in 1836 due to the diminishing power of Napoleon and quarrels over the plans of architect Jean Chalgrin.

Every detail of the arch represents the victories of Napoleon throughout Europe and Africa. Since the ending of the first World War, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier can be found underneath.
