DV Video

Hard- and software
My main DV hardware consists of my trusty
Sony TRV900E (PAL version) mini DV camera. I bought this camera about 4 years ago and am still very happy with it.
For editing I hook up the Sony to my AMD Athlon 3000+ based Windows XP PC, using good old Firewire. Editing itself is done using Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0. As having enough hard disk space is a necessity I usually have 200GB of free space to work with.
The best addition in recent years surely was the replacement of my PC. The previous one was running on a 1GHz Athlon and render / preview time has dramatically decreased with the new PC.

Wish list
As with everything, there’s always room for things to wish for. Some of the hardware I would like to buy in the near future includes things like:

  • A decent tripod with the possibility to convert to a dolly. I must have increased the data traffic of the Manfrotto site dramatically over the past few months.
  • A good microphone and/or a MiniDisc recorder to record sound properly.
  • And last but certainly not least: A Steadicam type of stabilization unit.

Future of this page
I haven’t really decided yet what to do with this page, but one of the idea’s is to add some of the things I’ve learnt while working with digital video. Well, we’ll see what the future will bring.
